Our History

With funding from The Murphy Institute Seed Funding Grant Program, The Literacy Clinic launched on August 25, 2021. Subsequently, the Louisiana State Legislature allocated $75,000 to the 40th Judicial District Court, St. John the Baptist Parish, through the Louisiana Supreme Court, for The Literacy Clinic to run for a one-year pilot period. In 2022 and 2023, the legislature re-authorized allocation of funding for TLC.  In 2022, The Murphy Institute provided funding to expand the clinic’s operation into Orleans Parish.
