The Literacy Clinic currently operates in St. John the Baptist Parish at two concurrent levels: at the court-level, with enrollment of adults assigned to diversion or pleading to probation; and at the school-level, as a direct educational service for students in grades K-2. Partners include the 40th Judicial District Court, 40th Judicial District Public Defenders Office, Lake Ponchartrain Elementary School, River Parish Community College, and the Louisiana Department of Safety & Corrections.
The Literacy Clinic launched operations in Orleans Parish with a book reading & signing by Dr. Maychelle Cooper-Rodney, author of Dear Black Butterfly: You Are a Queen! Court-based operations will commence in April 2023.
